Between Home and Here
Between Home and Here is a reflection on the tragic and poetic dimensions of home, memory, separation, family, and the experiences of refugees and immigrants. The work explores how we navigate displacement, confront loss, and find ways to rebuild a sense of belonging between the places we leave behind and the places we come to inhabit. Appropriated images of hands and soldiers, drawn from 35mm black-and-white photographs of the American War in Vietnam, are juxtaposed with flowers, foliage, and landscapes that evoke the lush terrain of Vietnam. Through these layered images, the work examines the intersections of personal and collective memory, war and displacement, and the enduring relationship between land, identity, and belonging.
